= Voting and counting to be held on Friday, October 11 at 11am at the Kukkiwon Main Training Center =

The National Election Commission (NEC) of the Republic of Korea announced that three candidates registered during the two day registration period on September 30 and October 1 for the elections for the President of the World Taekwondo Headquarters (Kukkiwon).

After registration, the order the candidates will appear on the ballot paper was decided by a lottery and nine-day campaign period began the next day. 

The election will be held at the Kukkiwon Main Training Center from 11am on October 11, and if no candidate has a majority of votes after the first round, the election will be decided by holding a run-off vote immediately between the top two candidates.

The NEC said that it will manage this entrusted election in a fair and accurate manner according to the relevant laws including the Articles of Association of Kukkiwon, and announced that it is mobilizing all personnel available to actively conduct activities that provide information on, prevent and crackdown on violations, including the establishment of a resident team and the operation of a fair election support team.   

Meanwhile, the candidates adopted the ‘Declaration for a Fair Election’ to prevent activities such as bribery, slander or propaganda and promised to implement in order not to undermine the reputation of Republic of Korea as the home of taekwondo and Kukkiwon as an organization, which has taken the lead in the globalization and popularization of Taekwondo
