Elections for the Chairman of the National Cooperatives Federation

• Election Date & Period
  • Date of Election: The Election Commission shall decide the date for election through a discussion with the National Cooperatives Federation from 40 days to the day before the expiration of the term of office of the Heads of the National Cooperatives Federation

    ※ Repeat elections and by-elections shall be held within 30 days from the date the necessity for an election is acknowledged.

  • Election Period: From the end of the candidate registration period to Election Day

    ※ In case of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, the announcement of election shall be made 14 days before Election Day and the candidate registration period shall last for 7 days from the day after the announcement being made

    ※ In case of the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives, the announcement of election shall be made 16 days before Election Day and the candidate registration period shall last for 3 days from the day after the announcement being made.

• Right to Vote/Become a candidate
• Right to Vote: Delegates who are members of the cooperative federation (Agricultural) / Members of the general meeting composed of members of the cooperative federation (Fisheries)

• Right to become a candidate:

  Members of cooperatives who are members of the central federation and do not fall under the reasons for restrictions on eligibility for election as stipulated in relevant laws and regulations

  
  

• Term of Office: 4 years
  • Chairman of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation: May serve a single term of 4 years
  • Chairman of the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives: May serve two consecutive terms

  • Distribution of leaflets
  • Telephones (except from 10pm - 7am): 1) Direct calls between the caller and answerer; 2) Text messages (voice/image/video not allowed)

  • Using information and communication networks: 1) Posting of articles, videos, etc. on the Internet webpage bulletin boards established and operated by the relevant federation; 2) Emails
