HOME International Activities IEOP
International Election Observation Program (IEOP) is an international program held by the National Election Commission of the Republic of Korea during its major elections. It invites election officials from all over the world to share their election management systems and experiences. It also allows participation of observers from civil society, academia, other governmental or non-governmental bodies, and international organizations.
The IEOP has become integral to the development of elections across the world. Through the program, international observers have the opportunity to identify strengths and shortcomings on an electoral process and improve their own system.
It is usually conducted in a way that foreign election officials observe on-site election fields including campaigning, and voting and counting processes. During the peak of COVID-19, the IEOP was held in an online format. And starting from the 22nd National Assembly Elections in 2024, it reopened its offline observation and hosted observers from around the world.
