The National Election Commission (NEC) of the Republic of Korea held an Election Fashion Show on May 7, showcasing the NEC’s ‘beautiful elections’ theme and elements of Korean culture. World-renowned designer Lei Sang-bong was the lead designer for this special collection and the event was attended by participants in the 2017 Seoul International Forum on Elections, including election officials and international organizations from around the world, as well as members of the public and election stakeholders.

The aim of the event was to promote a beautiful election culture to public and to inspire the idea of beautiful elections to the gathered election officials from around the world. The fashion show showcased a wide variety of designs inspired by traditional elements of Korean culture, work that has made Lie Sang-bong such a revered designer. Former Miss Korea participants modeled his designs and actors and musicians provided other cultural elements to the show.

Secretary General Kim Dai-nyeon, who played a pivotal role in organizing the event, attended on behalf of NEC and he was joined by Deputy Secretary General Bak Yeong-soo. The NEC aims to continue to spread the idea of free, fair and participatory ‘beautiful elections’ that it successfully promoted through events such as this throughout the 19th presidential election.
