Candidate Registration for the 17th President of the KFCC Closed, 6 Candidates Confirmed

= NEC holds a fair election pledge signing ceremony on January 11 after registration had closed =

 

The National Election Commission (NEC) of the Republic of Korea announced that six candidates registered for the election for the 17th President of the Korean Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives (KFCC), which will be held on February 2, 2018.

 

This is the first time that the NEC has been entrusted with managing the election for the President of the KFCC in accordance with the Law on Entrusted Elections of Public Organizations and the Community Credit Cooperatives Act, and the NEC will be involved through the election process (except the drawing up and finalization of the voters list), including the prevention of and punishment against any illegal activities.  

 

Candidates will be able to campaign by distributing campaign materials and through electronic communications including by phone, text message   and e-mail for 21 days from January 12 to February 1, the day prior to election day. Candidates will be able to appeal for votes on election day by making a presentation at the hustings. 

 

Election bulletins together with the voting information will be sent to voters by January 26. The voting and counting will be conducted on February 2 at the MG National Institute of Human Resources Development in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province. Voting will take place using the online voting system developed by the NEC (K-Voting) after the hustings. 

 

In addition, candidates attended a fair election pledge signing ceremony held at the NEC office in Gwacheon, promising that they would defend against money-based elections, slander and propaganda and compete with good will. They also pledged to do their best to ensure this election rooted a fair election culture.
