= KOCEI carried out overseas election official training =

The Korean Civic Education Institute for Democracy (KOCEI) carried out overseas election official training focused on the Korean election system for officials from Iraq and Palestine from July 16 to 23.

During the training, election officials from Iraq and Palestine gained knowledge on the Korean election system, election management laws and the voting and counting systems, developed action plans to improve their own country’s election management services and had an opportunity to experience Korean culture.

After training for election officials from Cameroon and Kenya in April, this is the second overseas election officials training course of the year, and these courses have focused on spreading Korea’s advanced election technology, including the issuing of early voting ballots and the use of the optical scan ballot sorting and counting machine.

Since 2006, KOCEI has invited and hosted trainings for 431 election officials from 45 countries, and through these programs KOCEI has established partnerships for the advancement of election systems around the world and has received praise for its work.
