NEC Signs a MoU with the KFTA, Including Support for Online Voting

Expected to spread an atmosphere of fair election participation and enhance democratic citizenship

The National Election Commission (NEC) of the Republic of Korea signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Korean Federation of Teacher''s Associations (KFTA) on May 10 for the use and support of online voting and the enhancement of democratic citizenship.

In this agreement, signed after the Voter’s Day ceremony between Kim Yong-Hi, the Secretary General of the NEC, and Park Chan-Soo, the Acting President of the KFTA, both organizations agreed to cooperate on the use and support of online voting and the enhancement of democratic citizenship.

The NEC has agreed to fully support an online voting system for various elections to ensure an atmosphere of transparent and fair election participation. In addition, it is expected that the KFTA will provide opportunities for voters and such as training and education in order to develop the democratic citizenship.

Meanwhile, the NEC will support the online voting system for the 36th elections for President of the KFTA between June 10 and 19, and in consideration of the fact this will be the largest KFTA election in history, consisting of around 170,000 voters, plans to fully support the system to make sure there are no interruptions in voting.
