Election Officials from Cameroon and Kenya Experience 20th National Assembly Elections in Korea

The National Election Commission (NEC) of the Republic of Korea announced that the Korean Civil Education Institute for Democracy (KOCEI) held training on Korea’s election system for election officials from Kenya and Cameroon for 12 days from April 5 to 16.

 

In the training program, election officials acquired expertise in fields such as the election system, election management practices and the voting and counting systems in Korea, drew up an action plan to improve election management in their own country, made various visits to industrial sites and had an opportunity to experience traditional Korean culture. 

 

On April 7, participants visited the NEC, on April 9 early voting stations and on election day April 13 they visited a polling station and a counting center to see voting and counting processes. 

 

Since 2006, KOCEI has invited and hosted trainings for 420 election officials from 45 countries, and through these programs KOCEI has established partnerships for the advancement of election systems around the world and has received praise for its work. 

 

 

 

 

Cameroon and Kenya Election Officials Training Program

 

1. Period: April 5 (Tue) – 16 (Sat) (12 days, in line with the 20th National Assembly elections April 13)

 

2. Location: KOCEI First Lecture Room (4th Floor) 

 

3. Participants: 11 Election Officials from Cameroon and Kenya (3 from Cameroon, 8 from Kenya)

 

4. Main Contents:

 

• Lectures and practical training on the Korean election system and  voting and counting systems in Korea

• Visits to voting station and counting center during the 20th National Assembly elections (including early voting) and election campaigning

• Visit to the NEC, A-WEB Secretariat and the National Assembly

• Drawing up and presentation of an action plan for the participants'' own country
