NEC Hosts Election Officials Taking Part in A-WEB Election ICT Capacity Building Program

34 election officials from 14 countries visited the National Election Commission of the Republic of Korea (NEC) on December 3 as part of A-WEB Election ICT Capacity Building Program.

In his welcoming remarks, Mr. Kim Yong-Hi, the Secretary General of the NEC, greeted the guests with a heartfelt welcome and noted the determined will for cooperation, saying “the NEC will be dedicated to assisting in free and fair democratic elections around the world, drawing on the long experience of the NEC." In a response speech, on behalf of all the delegations, the Chairman of Commission Electoral Nationale Independante of Togo, Taffa Issifou Tabiou expressed his gratitude to the NEC officials for their active engagement in the advancement of election worldwide.

During their visit to the NEC, they watched a video clip introducing the NEC and election system of the Republic of Korea. The NEC also explained the structure, duties, and roles of the NEC.

The delegations arrived in the Republic of Korea on November 28 and will be staying until December 5 during which they will better understand the advanced election system and the state-of-the-art election ICT of the Republic of Korea.
