Japanese Lawmaker Kuniko Koda from the House of Councilors Visits the NEC

Kuniko Koda, a member of the Japanese House of Councilors visited the National Election Commission (NEC) of the Republic of Korea on Wednesday October 7.

 

Ms. Koda is currently on a two-day visit to Korea during which she is collecting research data on the Women’s participation in politics. During the scheduled visit, she met with NEC Secretary General Kim Yong-Hi and shared opinions on ways to increase women’s participation in politics.

 

The Secretary General described in detail measures used to increase women’s participation in politics in Korea such as the mandatory  quota for women within party nominations for proportional election representations set in the Public Officials Election Act.
