Commissioner Yang Sung Tae is Inaugurated as Chairperson of the NEC

At a general meeting held on the 16th of February, 2009, the members of the National
Election Commission elected Commissioner Yang Sung Tae as the chairperson.

In his address given at the inauguration ceremony held on the same day, Chairperson
Yang called for fair and impartial management of the next year’s 8th simultaneous local
elections and recently adopted overseas voting. He also suggested that by continuing
researches on the issues of low turnout and alleviating grievances against the election
law system, user-focused administrative services should be offered.

Furthermore, Chairperson Yang emphasized NEC''''s role in dealing with election law
violations and the need for self-reflection in order to earn people’s trust and respect.
