Secretary General Lee Jong-woo of the NEC participated in the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of the Indian Election Commission, January 24-25, 2011.

As part of the celebration, an International Conference on ‘Best Electoral Practices’ was held on January 24^th 2011 at Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi. The Conference was attended by the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners of India, officials of EMBs, scholars and officials of international institutions, among others.

At the conference, Mr.Lee delivered a presentation under the title of ‘Political Participation of Immigrants in Korea’, in which many participants showed a great interest. Also, there were about 20 presenters from Thailand, Mexico, the US, and others on various subjects including voter’s education, innovative practices in electoral management bodies, and electoral participation of the young generation.

On January 25^th, Mr.Lee attended the concluding ceremony of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations, which was held in the presence of prominent dignitaries and other distinguished guests including Indian President Pratibha Patil.
