The NEC Meeting for the Announcement

of the 2013 Annual Plan

The National Election Commission (NEC) held the meeting with senior officials from the NEC and 17 City/Do Election Commissions on January 22. In the meeting, the NEC announced an annual plan for major issues that should be fulfilled in 2013.

In 2013, marking the 50^th anniversary of the establishment of the NEC, Moon Sang–Boo, the Secretary General, called for an expansion of the freedom of voting and a major shift in regulation practice from controlling the election campaign activities to controlling election expenses to advance the political institutions. In addition, he asked for an unwavering support from all members of the each level of Election Commissions to carry out major projects successfully: such as hosting the Commission’s Golden Jubilee and the Voter’s Day, establishing the Association of the World Election Bodies (A-WEB), and to serve the public and politicians better.
