The National Election Commission hosted 2011 AAEA General Assembly on 27^th October at Seoul Plaza hotel. A total of 52 Representatives from international organizations including ACEEEO, ACEO, International IDEA and IFES and election bodies of Australia, Mexico and 18 Asian countries participated in this meeting.

At the General Assembly, the NEC of the Republic of Korea has been elected as a chair by unanimous consent; election commission of India as a vice-chair; electoral authorities of Taiwan, the Philippines and Kazakhstan as members of the executive board.

Furthermore, there was a foundation forum of an Association of World Election Bodies in the afternoon (at 2:00pm). The opening speech by the Honourable Justice Nung-Hwan Kim, Chairman of the NEC, began the forum and Mr. Jong-Woo Lee, Secretary General of the NEC made a presentation on the proposal for the establishment of an Association of the World Election Bodies for development of the world democracy and elections.

The forum consisted of two sessions where presentations of panellists and discussions of the participants were made respectively. After discussions, AAEA Conference Resolution was adopted for the establishment of an Association of the World Election Bodies in order to develop the world democracy and support newly emerging democracies.
