The National Election Commission(NEC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) with the General Electoral Commission(GEC) on 25 March 2011 for expanded exchange and cooperation between the two commissions. The signing ceremony was held at the parliament of Mongolia.

The MOU was signed by NEC’s Deputy Secretary General Moon Sang-bu and GEC’s Secretary General Sodnomtseren Choinzon. The MOU included the exchange of information on election management and functions of the organization as well as joint research and studies on electoral systems and civic education.

The MOU between the NEC and the GEC will contribute to expanding the scope of exchange and cooperation. Based on the MOU, the two commissions are expected to carry out various projects in the coming years. The NEC also donated 62 netbook computers to the GEC to be utilized as a tool to assist the development of electoral process of Mongolia.
