Chairperson of National Election Commission, Appeals to Voters for Participation in Fair Election

Honorable Nung-Hwan Kim, Chairperson of the National Election Commission released a statement to the nation on November 26, a day prior to the start of the 18^th Presidential election period to appeal for participation in a fair election.

The statement outlines the following:

◎    Criticism without respect for decisions made by the Election Commission would only hinder the proper management of elections. The Election Commission is determined to strictly manage the upcoming Presidential election and take firm action on illegalities.

◎    All the people and organizations as well as each candidate and political party shall strive to seek voters’ support by performing election campaign in ways and by means the Public Official Election Act permits and competing based on policies while respecting each other.

◎    Public officials including the president shall remain politically impartial and observe principles that ban election campaign while religious people are required to comply with a principle of secularism and the media provide correct information to voters.

◎    Final election results should depend on those who vote in an election. Hopefully every valuable vote will be cast in the upcoming Presidential election to make it a festival for everyone based on people’s strict judgments.
