The National Election Commission announced that it would hold the 8^th International Symposium on Democratic Citizenship for 2 days from September 20 to 21 at the Korean Civic Education Institute for Democracy (Jongno-gu, Seoul), whose theme is 「Worldwide Elections, Policies & Political Participation」.

The International Symposium will be held for the 8^th time in preparation for the 18^th Presidential Election, where the latest trend of election and policy in each country and efforts made to encourage voters’ political participation will be discussed.

The International Symposium will be attended by experts of Germany, Australia, Japan, USA and Korea. Experts of each country will have a presentation and a discussion on policy pledges and manifestos, education to encourage political participation, and participation of American and Korean voters who have the Presidential Election ahead.

According to the NEC, it is striving to seek various ways to encourage political participation and to revitalize education on democratic citizenship through an in-depth presentation and discussion at the symposium.
