The NEC Appointed University Student Journalists

Date :03/15/2013Read : 196

The National Election Commission (NEC) held a ceremony to present appointment letters to university student journalists on August 17, 2012.

The NEC has appointed the student journalists since 2009. Eighteen student journalists, appointed after selection process, such as document screening and interviews, will carry out their responsibilities for 6 months from now.

The appointed student journalists will upload diverse election-related articles to the NEC’s official blog (http://nec1963.tistory.com/) and undertake various online and offline promotional activities. By doing so, they will play an important role in bridging the NEC and the people.

In particular, they are expected to deliver accurate election-related information in a timely manner in the run-up to the 18th Presidential election to be held on December 19, this year. In addition, they will play a crucial role in enhancing the people’s interest in elections and increasing turnout rate, by providing the articles with regard to major issues including the shipboard absentee voting which will be introduced for the first time; and policy-oriented elections(Manifesto) for the development of democracy.

In order to help student journalists to create quality contents and improve their understanding of election procedures in general, the NEC will provide them with a workshop in late August.
