The Address to the Nation of the Chairperson |

The Chairperson of the NEC (Hon. Justice Nung-Hwan KIM) delivered the address to the nation to ask the people to participate in fair elections on March 21: it was a day before the starting day of the candidate registration for the 19th National Assembly elections. The main points of the address are as follows: l The chairperson of the NEC asked election commissions to take an impartial and fair attitude in election management in order to reflect public opinions on election results without any distortion; and to take a stern action against illegal activities including illegal election campaigns, vote-buying, and libel and malicious propaganda. l He urged political parties and candidates to compete each other with their policies in order to give the public trust and hope with their responsible behaviors; and he also urged the president, government offices and civil servants to maintain political neutrality and obey the principle which is not to involve in election campaigns. l He also asked voters to judge illegal activities with their votes and participate in voting to show the strong will of the sovereigns.
