The Korean Civic Education Institute for Democracy of the NEC opens the “Election Academy” for prospective candidates, campaign managers, and campaign workers from January 10 to the end of February nationwide ahead of the 19th National Assembly elections which will be held on April 11.

The Korean Civic Education Institute for Democracy said that the Election Academy will provide necessary information to prospective candidates, campaign managers, and campaign workers; and promote a law-abiding atmosphere of the coming elections.

The Academy will open for about 5,000 people in 30 places nationwide from January 10 in Gyeongsangnam-do to the end of February; and will provide essential information which will be useful on the election fields, as the teaching staff will be composed of election experts who have abundant experiences and knowhow on election management. Textbooks will be provided to participants for free.

The Election Academy is going to provide lectures focusing on cases from a standpoint of candidates and other participants of elections: including necessary matters to prepare candidacy applications; recently amended Public Official Election Act; campaign-related laws and violation cases; election campaigns and Manifesto; effective methods of preparing campaign literature; and methods of election campaigns.

The NEC asked prospective candidates and election related workers to participate in the academy program with keen interests, because it aims not only to provide a practical help to prospective candidates and election related workers, but also to improve the political environment of high cost and low efficiency and encourage the campaign culture where candidates compete with their policies.
