The Korean Civic Education Institute for Democracy(KOCEI), attached to the National Election Commission(NEC), offered a ‘Politics Camp for Future Leaders’ (February 22, 2011) to about 50 university students who served as the student councils presidents in high schools.

The KOCEI organized the camp to encourage young students to foster proper attitude as a democratic citizen and have better understanding of political process.

At this camp, participating students were engaged in an extensive discussion on how to make further progress on Korea’s political culture in the years ahead. The students also showed a great interest in the special lectures on such subjects as building a professional life and designing a great life.

The KOCEI plans to provide this kind of camp for students in secondary schools during July to September. It is designed to give the students an opportunity to have first-hand experience of politics. The KOCEI will continue to provide various forms of education to students so that they can actually apply the values of democracy in everyday life and be equipped with the qualities required to be leaders of tomorrow.
