The National Election Commission (NEC) of the Republic of Korea announced that Kwon Soon-il, Chairperson of the NEC, submitted his resignation on September 22

Chairperson Kwon decided that he had fulfilled his role as Chairperson, as notified at the NEC confirmation hearing back in December, and announced that he had decided to resign.

The NEC notified the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the vacancy on the Commission, and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court notified candidates for the position to the National Assembly, and after the nomination is made through a confirmation hearing, the full Commission will meet to elect the Chairperson
