= Election surveys conducted up until April 8 may be announced or published =

The National Election Commission (NEC) of the Republic of Korea said it will be prohibited to announce or publish the results of surveys related to the election that predict the approval rate of a political party or the outcome of an election up until 6pm on April 15, when election day voting ends.

However, it is possible to publish or cite in a press release the results of an election survey conducted up until April 8 during the blackout period (must note in the report ‘refer to the website of the National Election Survey Deliberation Commission to view the organization that requested the survey, the pollster, and the date and times of the survey  and other information related to surveys’).

The NEC warned that if the results of election surveys are announced or reported during the blackout period, it could distort the voters'' true intentions, and if unfair or inaccurate surveys are published it could seriously undermine the fairness of the election.

Meanwhile, during the 21st National Assembly elections, 101 measures were taken so far related to election surveys with 23 charges, one request for investigation, 73 warnings, and four fines (as of April 7, 2020.).
