Date :04/07/2020Read : 57

The National Election Commission (NEC) of the Republic of Korea announced it has decided to suspend all overseas elections-related operations in regard to the 21st National Assembly elections at three diplomatic missions in three countries, the Embassy to Tunisia, Embassy to Guatemala and the Embassy to Mexico by April 6, 2020.

In both the cases of the Embassies to Guatemala and Mexico, an overseas Korean residing in the country and in contact with other overseas Koreans was confirmed with COVID-19 and therefore the decision was made to suspend overseas voting during the overseas voting periods in order to prevent a mass infection of voters.

The Embassy in Tunisia decided to suspend overseas elections-related operations on April 3.
