By-elections for the President and Standing Auditor of the National Forestry Cooperative Federation will be held on January 14

= By-election to be held due to resignation, briefing for perspective candidates held on December 26 =

 

A by-election to elect the 21st President and the 15th Standing Auditor of the National Forest Cooperatives Federation (NFCF) will take place on January 14, 2020.

 

According to the resignation of the previous President and Standing Auditor of the NFCF, the organization then applied to the National Election Commission to manage the elections in order to ensure fair and clean election management.

 

The candidate registration period was two days from December 30 to December 31. Those who plan to run in the election should be members of the NCFC, and there should not be disqualified for being elected as defined within the articles of association of the NCFC. 

 

Candidates can campaign for 13 days from January 1, a day after the candidate registration deadline, to January 13.  

 

The National Election Commission will hold a briefing for perspective candidates on December 26 at 2pm at the NCFC headquarters (based in Songpa-gu, Seoul).

 

The NEC plans to strictly manage the elections in accordance with relevant laws and articles of association, and to create an atmosphere of elections in compliance with the law through strict measures against election law violations. In particular, the NEC will crack down on serious illegal activities based on the principle of zero tolerance, including campaigning using their position as senior executives or employees of the NFCF, bribery ​
