NEC Signs MoU with YTN Broadcasting Company

The National Election Commission (NEC) of the Republic of Korea signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with YTN Broadcasting Company on June 25 to establish a fair election culture and for mutual development. 

 

Kim Se-hwan, the NEC Deputy Secretary General, and Jeong Chan-hyeong, the YTN CEO, attended the ceremony and the two organizations have agreed to cooperate for a joint campaign to set up a fair election culture, quick and accurate election coverage and increased sharing of material including content. 

 

In particular, the organizations promised mutual cooperation in providing election information reguarly, creating an atmosphere for policy-based elections, jointly producing contents for the NEC’s eTV, and holding a joint campaign to encourage participation in voting for the 21st National Assembly elections next year.

 

Deputy Secretary General Kim said “we hope this agreement with YTN, a reliable news channel, will help create a fair and credible election atmosphere and contribute as one more step forward in spreading the values of democracy.”

 

ETV, which first broadcast in April 2017, is a public service broadcaster operated by the NEC to spread fair elections and democratic values and can be viewed in numerous ways including on KT Olleh TV channel 273, t-broad channel 205 and the eTV website (www.etv.go.kr), as well as on YouTube.
